01 - Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
02 - Spread 1/2 tablespoon of butter on one side of each waffle.
03 - Place 2 waffles, buttered side down, on a cutting board. Spread 1 tablespoon of fruit preserves evenly over each waffle.
04 - Top each with 2 slices of cheese.
05 - Place the remaining waffles on top, buttered side up, to form sandwiches.
06 - Carefully transfer the sandwiches to the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the waffles are golden and the cheese is melted.
07 - Slice in half and serve warm.
